The Riven Oak: from one indexed page to 35 enquiries a month
A locked-down five-page brochure site had almost disappeared from Google. Only one page was indexed.
We rebuilt it around how customers actually search for bespoke joinery and handmade furniture. Organic traffic rose 170%, monthly enquiries went from zero to 35, and 15 keywords now rank in Google's top three.
5.0 rating on Google Reviews. Written and reviewed by Alicia McColl, founder of Landmark Web Design.
The Problem
A new website that had disappeared from Google
The Riven Oak had recently invested in a new website with another agency, but instead of helping the business grow, the site had almost disappeared from Google.
The website had been reduced to a basic five-page brochure site: a homepage, services page, about page, FAQs and contact page. It looked modern, but it had not been built to generate enquiries. There was no SEO strategy, no dedicated product pages, no location pages and very little opportunity to rank for the searches potential customers were making.
When we reviewed it, only one page was indexed by Google. The business had effectively lost most of its online visibility, while producing work of exactly the standard that wins high-value commissions.
The owners first contacted Landmark Web Design because they wanted to run Facebook ads to increase enquiries. Rather than taking on the advertising work straight away, we reviewed the website first.
It quickly became clear that paid advertising would only be a temporary fix. Sending traffic to a site that was not structured to rank or convert would have been a poor investment.
Our first option was to expand the existing website, but that was not possible. Although it was built on WordPress, it used a locked-down template that prevented us from adding the pages and content an effective SEO campaign needs. The only practical solution was to rebuild it properly, with lead generation and organic visibility as the objectives.

Before And After
What changed, measured
The figures below compare the site we inherited with the same site after the rebuild and SEO work.
| Metric | Before redesign | After optimisation |
|---|---|---|
| Organic traffic | Only one page indexed. Virtually all online visibility lost | 170% increase in organic traffic |
| Keyword rankings | No SEO strategy, and unable to rank for customer searches | 15 keyword terms ranking in the top three positions, plus top ranks in ChatGPT search |
| Monthly enquiries | A locked-down brochure site not built to generate leads | 35 regular, high-intent enquiries a month |
The Rebuild
Built around how customers search for joinery
Rather than producing another brochure website, we built the site around how customers actually search for bespoke joinery and handmade furniture.

We carried out keyword research to identify the products and services with genuine search demand, then created a hub-and-spoke structure that gave each key service a page of its own.
Instead of one generic services page, the site now has dedicated pages for resin dining tables, live-edge dining tables, staircases, fitted furniture, wooden doors, wooden windows and gaming tables.
We extended the local SEO strategy with service pages for Sheffield, Dronfield and Chesterfield, targeting searches for fitted furniture, wooden doors, wooden windows and bespoke staircases in each area. That helps Google understand both what The Riven Oak does and where it does it.
The new site also shows the craftsmanship through an extensive portfolio, so prospective customers can judge the standard of work before they enquire.
Every page was written to answer customer questions, demonstrate expertise and support long-term organic growth without relying on paid advertising.

The Results
The impact of the rebuild was almost immediate
Organic traffic increased by 170%, while monthly enquiries rose from zero to 35.
The website now holds 15 keywords in Google's top three positions, giving The Riven Oak consistent visibility for high-intent local searches.
The business also appears prominently in Google Business Profile results and ranks highly in ChatGPT, so customers find it through both traditional and AI search.
That matters more each year. A growing share of people now start with a question to an AI tool rather than a search box, and the structured product and location pages built during the rebuild are exactly what those tools quote.
Instead of relying on Facebook ads, The Riven Oak now has a website that produces regular organic enquiries from people searching for bespoke resin dining tables, fitted furniture, staircases, wooden doors and handcrafted joinery. We couldn't be happier with the service and end product of Alicia's work, she transformed our website which was performing very poorly and now is seeing a rise in engagement and new projects. We highly recommend Alicia and look forward to continue to work with her in the near future.
