Why It Matters

Online shops built to grow your business

If you sell products or services, your website should be making you money while you sleep. We design and build ecommerce websites that make it simple for customers to find what they are looking for, pay securely, and come back again.

Book a Call

Every online shop we build is a bespoke design, not a template. We start from scratch and build around your products, your customers, and the way people search for what you sell. Whether you have ten products or ten thousand, we create a shop that looks professional, loads fast, and works on every device.

Our design and development team is led by Alicia and Edoardo, who work directly with you throughout the project. There is no account manager in between, and no generic package handed off to a junior. You get the same people from first conversation to launch day.

Included As Standard

What your online shop includes

Six things every shop gets, whatever the size of the catalogue. None of them are charged separately.

01

A design built around your products

Your shop needs to show your products at their best. We design clear, uncluttered product pages with space for high quality images, detailed descriptions, and the information customers need to feel confident buying. Every layout guides visitors from browsing to checkout with as few clicks as possible.

02

Works on every device

More than half of online shopping now happens on phones. Every shop we build is designed mobile first, so your customers get a fast, smooth experience whether they are on a phone, tablet, or desktop. We test across all major browsers before launch.

03

Fast and secure

A slow online shop loses sales. We build every site to load quickly, meeting the performance standards Google uses to rank websites. Every shop includes an SSL security certificate to protect your customers' payment details, and we set up secure checkout so buyers can pay with confidence.

04

Easy for you to manage

You do not need to be technical to run your shop. We build on platforms that let you add new products, update prices, manage stock levels, process orders, and create discount codes yourself. We give you a full walkthrough after launch so you are confident managing everything day to day.

05

Payment and shipping set up for you

We configure your payment gateway so you can accept card payments from day one. We work with Stripe, PayPal, Square, and WooPayments, and can set up other providers if you need them. We also configure your shipping options, whether that is flat rate, free delivery over a certain amount, or calculated rates based on weight and location.

06

Built to appear in Google and AI search

We add structured data to every product page and category page. This is code behind the scenes that tells Google, ChatGPT, and other AI search tools exactly what you sell, how much it costs, and whether it is in stock. This helps your products appear in Google Shopping results, rich search listings, and AI powered recommendations. Most online shops do not have this. Every Landmark shop does.

Platforms

The platforms we build on

Two platforms, chosen on the merits of your business rather than on what is easiest for us to build.

WooCommerce

The majority of our ecommerce builds use WooCommerce, the online shop plugin for WordPress. WooCommerce is used by millions of shops worldwide and gives you complete control over your products, design, and how your site works. Because it runs on WordPress, you also get the full content management system for blog posts, landing pages, and other content that helps your site rank in search results.

WooCommerce is ideal if you want full ownership of your shop with no monthly platform fees beyond your hosting costs. You own the site, the data, and the design.

Shopify

For businesses that want a hosted platform with less technical overhead, we also build on Shopify. Shopify handles your hosting, security updates, and payment processing, making it a good option if you want a hands-off approach to the technical side.

We design bespoke Shopify storefronts and can provide ongoing SEO support for existing Shopify shops.

Payment gateways are configured as part of the build, not left for you to wire up afterwards. We set up Stripe, PayPal, Square and WooPayments as standard.

Which platform is right for you?

In most cases we recommend WooCommerce, because it gives you more control over your site, your data, and your search visibility. But the right choice depends on your products, your budget, and how much you want to manage yourself. We are happy to talk it through.

Our ecommerce builds are designed to work like your hardest-working member of staff, using the same performance frameworks that anchor our WordPress websites and our core Surrey web design services.

How We Work

Our five-stage design process

The same five stages on every shop, from a ten-product launch to a two hundred product rebuild. You see and approve the work at each stage.

For a wider look at how we work, see our web design services page.

  1. Discovery

We start by understanding your products, your customers, and how your competitors sell online. We look at what is working in your market and where the gaps are. This shapes the structure of your shop, from categories and filters to how checkout works.

  2. Design

We create a visual design in Figma that you can click through and review. You see how your homepage, product pages, category pages, and checkout will look on both mobile and desktop before we build anything. You approve the design before we write a single line of code.

  3. Build

We hand-code your shop to load fast, work on every device, and meet Google's performance standards. We set up your product catalogue, configure payments and shipping, and add structured data so your products can appear in Google Shopping and AI search results.

  4. Content and photography

Strong product pages need clear descriptions and good images. We can write your product descriptions for you, researched around the words your customers are actually searching for. If you need product photography, we can advise on how to get the best results or connect you with a photographer.

  5. Launch and support

Before going live, we test every part of the shop: product pages, add to cart, checkout, payment processing, order confirmation emails, and mobile experience. After launch, we monitor your site for 30 days and fix any issues that come up.

Client Results

Shops we have built and the numbers behind them

The Vintage Cake Stand Company

They needed an online shop that showcased their handmade products and made it easy for customers to browse and buy. We designed and built a WooCommerce shop with clear product categories, high quality image layouts, and a streamlined checkout.

The site was built to load fast on mobile and included structured data so their products could appear in Google search results.

Emily's House

Emily's House came to us with an existing shop built on a template that was no longer being updated, which meant parts of the site had stopped working. They were happy with the look, so we rebuilt it in the same style using WordPress and WooCommerce, adding a quotation feature and improving the checkout.

With over 200 products, the SEO work is ongoing.

Shopify clients

We also work with established Shopify stores. Mighton's is a Shopify redesign and SEO project launching in 2026, combining a refreshed storefront with improved search visibility.

Nursey Sheepskin is an existing Shopify store where we provide ongoing SEO to help their products rank in Google and AI search results.

Common Questions

eCommerce website design FAQs

The questions we are asked most often before an online shop project starts.

How much does an ecommerce website cost?

Our ecommerce websites start from £3,000. The final price depends on how many products you have, the complexity of the design, whether we write the content or you provide it, and whether you need extras such as subscriptions, stock management integrations or photography.

We give you a fixed quote before work begins.

How long does it take to build an online shop?

Most ecommerce builds take between four and eight weeks, depending on the number of products, the complexity of the design, and how quickly content and images are ready.

A straightforward shop with up to 50 products can often be completed within five to six weeks.

Which ecommerce platform do you recommend?

We recommend WooCommerce for most businesses because it gives you full control over your shop, your data and your search visibility, with no monthly platform fees beyond hosting.

For businesses that prefer a hosted solution with less technical management, we also build on Shopify. We are happy to help you decide which is right for you.

Which payment providers can I use?

We set up Stripe, PayPal, Square and WooPayments as standard. Other payment gateways can be added depending on your platform and requirements.

Will my online shop appear in Google?

Yes. Every shop we build includes structured data on every product and category page, which helps your products appear in Google search results, Google Shopping, and AI-powered search tools like ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews.

For businesses that want ongoing search optimisation after launch, we offer a dedicated SEO service.

Can I manage the shop myself after launch?

Yes. Both WooCommerce and Shopify have dashboards that let you add products, update prices, manage stock, process orders and create discount codes without any technical knowledge.

We give you a full walkthrough after launch so you are confident running everything yourself.

How To Contact Us

It Starts With a Conversation

Whether you are launching your first online shop, rebuilding one that has stopped working, or moving off a platform you do not own, the first conversation covers three things.

  • What your current shop is costing you in abandoned baskets and missed sales
  • How many products you sell, and how you want to manage them
  • What that costs, as a fixed price agreed before any work starts

If your existing shop is sound and only needs fixing rather than replacing, we will say so rather than quoting for a rebuild. You keep the findings either way.
